make pie!



Since I can't just go down to the grocery store and pick up a pre-made pie crust, which is what I usually do, I had to whip out my new Better Homes and Gardens cookbook that my brother gave me for Christmas and find a recipe. The pie turned out to be incredibly delicious.
If I can make a pie, anyone can!

Nature

To those of you who don't know, my Sunday evening ritual includes a bowl of popcorn, and if I'm lucky, milkshakes, while watching Nature on PBS . Here is my first attempt at capturing my own enthralling video of a gopher making a burrow. Too bad I don't have a fiber optic video recording device to capture the digging from inside the hole.

The Kitchen:

Here is a recent picture. We have not changed a thing in the kitchen, yet. We are thinking of painting it, getting bar stools, and then adding some form of rooster/chicken theme?

Is the rooster/chicken thing out? I don't even know if that is in style anymore?

Dinner Anyone?

Z has mentioned that the food here tastes better. Not just once, but on several occasions. I don't think I am improving my cooking skills and we eat the same things. The only thing I can figure out is that she works up an appetite from all that outside play. So, yeah for a big backyard, a dog, and a girl that loves to eat.

Backyardigans

Here is a lovely shot of my backyard. I hope this gives you a little flavor of where I live. It is quite an adjustment from the Midwest, but a good adjustment. To get to the grocery store I have a 40 mile drive, but it's a beautiful drive along Lake Roosevelt through pine trees and is quite scenic. Today I saw a deer on the side of the road and a family of geese were using the smooth asphalt as a runway for take-off.

These other two picture are just down the steep hill behind my house too. We hike down and back up a couple times a week. There is such beauty in nature and I am soaking it up.

An Afternoon At The Lake

I hear you screaming at me, because I did not post a picture of the place, I hear you! You will not be disappointed in these because they are better than one of my house. So be patient... and enjoy these.

In the Colville National Forest there is a little lake, known as Lake Ellen. We took the afternoon to explore it.

We rolled up our pant legs, took off our shoes and socks, and waded in. Nice and cool, but not freezing. In order to get to the dock we had to get wet.







We tried to hike around this lake, but ran into a rattlesnake. So we opted for sitting on the dock and catching glimpses of turtles, butterflies, and flowers.
