Tulips

Harry Larry

He got a haircut and is looking pretty swell. Two weeks ago he started out as grass seeds on top of some dirt and look at him today! He's already had two haircuts. This is what we call the kid friendly version of a Chia Pet.
Update: The pot is a Styrofoam cup with paper glued around the rim, googly eyes, and a pink paper nose.

4 a.m.

It's my sister's 10th wedding anniversary. So, I am staying with her kids while she goes on a little getaway to celebrate. She has twins, I will call them, Boy A and Boy B (when they were in-utero they were known as Baby A and Baby B). She called me on the phone to tell me that Boy B sometimes wakes in the night from bad dreams, gets out of bed, and cries for a few minutes, then gets back in bed.

At 4 a.m. I hear a small voice, "Aunt Snappy?" "Are you o.k.?" I ask. I am groggy and can't see in the dark. "What's the matter did you have a bad dream?" I assume it's Boy B but I better make sure."Are you Boy A or Boy B?"

"I'm Boy A!" -- next thing I know he is dragging his blanket behind him and curls up on the floor next to the bed where I almost step on him at 7:30 a.m.

Correct scenario, wrong boy!

Lucky!

Friends are like four leaf clovers... Hard to find, but lucky to have.

I guess you could say I have been pretty lucky lately. I found this four leaf clover while on a walk with great friends. (They happen to be my husband and my daughters.)

To answer comments from my last post; Yes, the new cabinets were totally worth it, even if I'm only able to enjoy them for three weeks. We have lived in this apartment for nearly four years. When I moved in I wanted new cabinets and I heard that some apartments were getting them. I mentioned that I would probably get mine right before I moved out. I shouldn't have jinxed myself. They smell so new! It makes my whole house smell wonderful. Now I actually enjoy sitting in my kitchen. That may sound really weird, but before with those 1970's cupboards I didn't stick around much after the meal was finished. Now I want to stay and enjoy the lovely background.

And the weather was lovely... that's another plus!

GREAT NEWS!

I am so excited for Thursday April 17, 2008. This is the day that my kitchen cabinets in my home are scheduled for replacement. But, before the new cabinets can be installed I will be required to remove all items from my old kitchen cabinets, counter tops and walls. I must move them to another room in my home with a clear, unobstructed path from my front door to my kitchen. Ummmm, it looks like I may have to put my pots and pans on my bed, my microwave in the bathtub, and the dry goods on the dryer! Will it be worth it to get these brown 1970's cabinets outta here? Tell us what you think!

Spring Blanket?

For show and tell my daughter is suppose to bring something to school that reminds her of spring. She wants to take her blue blanket. "It's the color of the sky and the color of grass." And so a little history about the blue blanket:

1. She has had this blanket since birth.

2. It is also known as "Blue Blank."

3. It is getting holes, fraying, and is soft and comfy from all the washing.

I am glad it reminds her of spring.

"Eat after you exercise."

Best Post-Workout Foods

Did you know? When it comes to working out, the most important meal you eat is the one you eat after you exercise. The meal you eat at this time is the most important for building muscle and replenishing energy sources. Your muscles need protein for repair and growth, and your body needs some carbohydrates to replenish its glycogen stores. Remember, right before exercise you have to consider the time it takes to digest food, so you need to go light. Post-workout is the ideal time to have a full meal. So what's the best meal, or combination of foods, to have post-workout?

Healthy Post-Workout Meals

Chicken and Mixed Vegetables
Egg Omelet with Avocado
Salmon, Spinach, and Sweet Potato
Tuna, Brown Rice, and Vegetables

The continuation of my altered book.....

To get over the fact that I was about to sand a book, I had to give it a new cover. I have an adoration for books. In Jr. High and High School I choose to be a library aide as my elective. I love to browse the library every week for new reading material. I love to sit with a child on my lap and share a good story. Even though this book was set aside for use on a project, I could hardly bear the guilt that I was going to partially destroy said book to turn it into something else.
Next step: painting... with more pictures to come.

March Title Picture

Another month has come and gone! My how time flies. My days are filled with squabbles, antics, quibbles, and comical sidesplitting quirky quotes. Such is a day in the life of Snappy.
Q: "Do baby cows drink milk?"

A: "Yeah"

Q: "Do Mom cows eat grass?"

A: "Yeah"

Q: "Do Dad cows eat frogs?"

Singing in the background from Z: "Do your ears hang low, do they wobble to and fro, can you tie them in a knot can you tie them in a bow?" Snappy asks Lulu if her ears hand low: "No they hang up by my hair."

Sneeze! "Bless you, me!"
